Pope Victor I a.k.a. Praxeas (d. 199) was the bishop of Rome who wrote letters of excommunication to the Churches of Asia in 193, which Tertullian called “letters of peace” in his tract Against Praxeas. He also preached modalism in Rome, the doctrine that John called “the Spirit of the Antichrist” (1 John 2:22; 4:3).
