9 The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
he was thrown down to the earth – in the Old Testament, Satan freely appeared in heaven before the Angel of Yihvah, in the Book of Job, and in Zechariah.
Why is there a close correlation between the casting down of Satan to the earth and the “time, times, and half a time” that the saints were given into the hands of the beast (Dan 7:25)? Paul told us the coming of the lawless one is “in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders” (2 Thess 2:9). The work of false miracles and deception began with Montanism after 180 AD, as the Spirit of the Antichrist possessed Tertullian and others.
Tertullian was the first writer to support three great heresies:
① he said it made no difference what kind of water was used for baptism
② he promoted Sunday rest, rather than Saturday rest, and
③ he invented the Trinity
