10 I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.
I will pour on the house of David…the spirit of grace – the expression “pour out,” in Joel 2:28,29, and Isa 44:3, describes the anointing of God poured out by Christ in Acts 2:33.
they will look on Me who they have pierced – the speaker is always the Word, the Angel of Yihvah, who normally speaks for God, but sometimes speaks as Himself, as we saw in Zech 3:2.
The Jews were first “cut to the heart” in Acts 2:37.
In Rev 1:7, John applies this passage to the nations of the earth when Christ returns.
