Dan 12:1-4

MICHAEL WILL STAND UP
This is the conclusion of the Angel’s explanation of Daniel’s vision of WHO IS LIKE GOD, Christ, in Dan 10:5-6.  This was the same vision that John described in Rev 1:13-16: “I was in the Spirit in the LORD’s Day” (Rev 1:10).

The Angel’s explanation concludes in the LORD’s Day.
1 “At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who shall be found written in the book.
Dan 12:1
Michael, the great Captain – the Hebrew word is hassar, meaning Captain as in Josh 5:14-15.

WHO IS LIKE GOD (Michael) – the Spirit of Christ, will appear on the LORD’s Day as both the Son of Man, and the Archangel Michael, as described by Paul in 1 Thess 4:16: “the Lord Himself will descend in a shout, in the voice of the Archangel.”

And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred –  Jesus quotes this in Matt 24:21.

Everyone written in the book – the book of life described in Luke 10:20; Phil 4:3, Rev 13:8; Rev 20:15
2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Dan 12:2
Many to everlasting life – see John 5:28-29, the “voice” of the Son of God (John 5:25), the Archangel, will bring them to life, see 1 Thess 4:16.
3 Those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the expanse; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.
Dan 12:3
those who are wise will shine – see Matt 13:43, the righteous will shine in the kingdom of their Father.
4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run back and forth, and knowledge shall be increased.”
Dan 12:4
seal up until the time of the end – Daniel’s prophecies will not be understood until the end time, which is today. This is the hour of God’s judgment (Rev 14:7); the “end of the age” explained in Matt 13:40-43, and Revelation Chapter 14, when the Son of Man sends out His Angels.

many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase – a great description, not only of the passage of time, and man’s progression in knowledge, but also our present day, when knowledge abounds in unprecedented levels, and the common man travels from continent to continent.
