Ezek 36:24-38

I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT IN YOU
Here we continue the message that began in Ezekiel Chapter 34, the restoration of Israel. After Israel has been taken “out from the peoples (nations)..(to) feed on the mountains of Israel,” God will pour out His Spirit on them. This prophecy continues to Ezekiel Chapter 37, and is the sign of the end days.

Does Ezekiel Chapters 36-37 speak of the spiritual Israel, or the blood born Israelites? “For they are not all Israel, who are descended from Israel” (Rom 9:6).

There are several truths that might lead us to the wrong conclusion that these Chapters are only speaking about the spiritual Israel.

① Ezekiel Chapter 34 described the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer, telling us that all believers will follow one Shepherd.
② Ezekiel Chapters 40-48 certainly speaks of the end time sanctified Church, the “third Temple” that is built in the East, the spiritual Israel.
③ Ezek 39:18 is a prophecy of the “great supper” of God’s wrath, described in Rev 19:18. And Ezek 39:28 can only be describing the captivity of the saints in mystery Babylon.
④ Ezek 39:29 concludes, “I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel, says Adonai Yihvah.”
⑤ Ezek 39:29 refers to the outpouring of God’s Spirit on the spiritual Israel, described in Ezekiel Chapters 36 and 37.

Some believe that the spiritual Israel is the only subject of Ezekiel’s prophecies in Ezekiel Chapters 34 to 48. These same people would also say that the battle of Armageddon, described in Ezek 38, is only a spiritual attack on the Church.

If it was not for the explanation of Armageddon in Zechariah Chapter 12, we might be compelled to agree. From here, we know that the Battle described in Ezekiel Chapter 38 is not a spiritual battle. We can regard Ezekiel Chapters 34 to 38 as a prophecy of the physical and spiritual Israel. And we have proof of their fulfillment both on a physical and spiritual level.

Ezek 39-48 only speaks of the end time sanctified Church.
24 For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.
Ezek 36:24
I will take you from the nations – we continue the message that began in Ezek 34; the end time restoration of Israel, and the spiritual Israel that had been trapped in mystery Babylon.
25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
Ezek 36:25
I will sprinkle clean water on you – the spiritual Israel will be cleansed through baptism in the end days. This can only be the true baptism of living water in the name of Jesus, that cleanses the saints.

you shall be clean…from all your idols – clean from the worship of the image of the beast.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
Ezek 36:26
put a new Spirit within you – this is one of many similar prophecies, through Joel, Ezekiel, Zechariah and Isaiah.
27 I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them.
Ezek 36:27
I will put My Spirit within you – as described in Joel, Isaiah etc,
29 I will save you from all your uncleanness: and I will call for the grain, and will multiply it, and lay no famine on you. 30 I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations. 31 Then shall you remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. 32 Nor for your sake do I [this], says Adonai Yihvah, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.
Ezek 36:29
I will save you from your uncleanliness – the spiritual Israel will turn to true righteousness in the last days, as described also in Rev 14.
33 Thus says Adonai Yihvah: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be built. 34The land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.35 They shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited. 36 Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I, Yihvah, have built the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Yihvah, have spoken it, and I will do it. 37 Thus says Adonai Yihvah: For this, moreover, will I be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock. 38 As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am Yihvah.
Ezek 36:36
the nations that are left around you will know that I, Yihvah, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted that which was desolate – indeed,  for centuries before Israel was made a state, the area was a sparsely inhabited, desolate, wasteland. The rebuilding must also refer to the rebuilding of the spiritual temple, which was made desolate by the Antichrist, as described throughout Daniel.
