| HARLOTRY IN THE NEW COVENANT |

| 1 Yihvah said to me, “Go again, love a woman loved by another, and an adulteress, even as Yihvah loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins.” |
| Hos 3:1 Go again…just like the love of the LORD for children of Israel – here God prophecies the Revelation harlot, of the Gentiles, saying “Go again.” He has sent Hosea to a harlot once in recognition of the harlotry of the house of Israel, in Hos 1:2, and now after explaining the New Covenant with the Gentiles, God tells Hosea that he must “go again.” This is the end days purification of the kingdom of heaven that will pave the way for the salvation of Israel, which we read about in Rev 14, Luke 21:24 etc. love the raisin cakes of the pagans – this will be the trouble of the Gentiles, who will mix pagan religious practices with the true faith. |
| 2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and a homer and a half of barley. 3 I said to her, “You shall stay with me many days. You shall not play the prostitute, and you shall not be with any other man. I will also be so toward you.” |
| Hos 3:2 fifteen shekels of silver – half the price of a slave, see Exod 21:32. This shows her low value. The custom was always to add some grain to the agreed price. The Targum translates this as: “And I redeemed them by my Memra (My Word) on the fifteenth day of the month of Nisan.” This is the Passover, the Day Christ died, see explanation at Dan 9:27. |
| 4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols. |
| Hos 3:4 shall abide many days without king of prince – as in Ezekiel, King or Prince refers to Christ. This refers to the long period of time that precedes the restoration and salvation of Israel, in the next verse. |
| 5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek Yihvah their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to Yihvah and to his blessings in the last days. |
| Hos 3:5 and David their King – of course, meaning Christ, as in Ezek 37:24. In the Targum, this reads, they “will obey the anointed One son of David their King.” in the last days – Israel will be saved in the end days. There are some interesting translations made of this verse. The most accurate should be the NIV and NASB, which both read: “they will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.” This speaks of the blessing of the promised comforter they will receive, as described in Ezek 37:14, Joel 2:29, and Zech 14:8. |
