Rev 2:18-29

THE SPIRIT TO THYATIRA
18 “To the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: “The Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished brass, says these things:
Rev 2:18
the Son of God who has eyes like a flame of fire and feet like burnished bronze – this refers back to Rev 1:15, “His feet were like burnished bronze, when it is made to glow in the furnace.” This is the “one like the Son of God” in the furnace in Dan 3:25. The “feet of burnished bronze” is found in Daniel’s vision of the Archangel Michael in Daniel 10:6. The Archangel Michael, “WHO IS LIKE GOD,” was manifest in the flesh as “the Son of man” and became the first “Son of God.”
19 I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first.
Rev 2:19
your deeds are greater than at first – a wonderful statement, not made of any other Church.
20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
Rev 2:20
you tolerate the woman Jezebel – three of the first four Churches have an issue of eating things sacrificed to idols and committing immorality. This was a huge issue for the Gentiles who were brought out of the practices of pagan religion. Jezebel called herself a prophetess, and by Satan’s deception, taught this sin.
21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works.
Rev 2:21
I gave her time to repent – Christ is quite merciful, as was Paul in 1 Cor 5:5, when he delivered one over to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit would be saved in the Day of Christ. The normal practice is to “remove the wicked man,” (1 Cor 5:13), but such a person, being separated from the body of Christ, may have little chance of salvation in the Day of Christ.
23 I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
Rev 2:23
I will kill her children – this can be a figurative expression that compares Jezebel to the Great Harlot of Babylon, and the spiritual death of the spiritual children of Jezebel to the spiritual death of the children of the Great Harlot.

who searches the minds and hearts – here, Christ must be speaking as “the Word,” for it is God who searches the hearts and minds, as we read in Rom 8:29, and Jer 17:10.
24 But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as don’t have this teaching, who don’t know what some call ‘the deep things of Satan,’ to you I say, I don’t lay on you any other burden. 25 Nevertheless that which you have, hold firmly until I come. 26 He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him will I give authority over the nations. 27 He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father:
Rev 2:27
he shall rule with a rod of iron – the saints as the body of Christ in Rev 19:15, shall rule the nations.
28 and I will give him the morning star. 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.
Rev 2:28
I will give him the morning star – meaning he who “keeps My deeds,” verse 26, will receive the spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ (John 14:23). The Spirit of Christ is the morning star, see Rev 22:16.
