Zech 6:9-15

THE ORIENT IS HIS NAME
11 Yes, take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest; 12 and speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Yihvah of Hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of Yihvah;
Zech 6:12
behold a man whose name is Branch – the Branch is Christ (Zech 3:8; Isa 4:2 etc). The priest’s name is Joshua, which is Jesus in Greek. The Targum calls Him “the Anointed” (Christ in Greek).

“The Branch” which is semah in Hebrew is translated as “the East” (ANATOLY) in the Greek Septuagint. And therefore, the Douay-Rheims says, “And thou shalt speak to him, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: BEHOLD A MAN, THE ORIENT IS HIS NAME: and under him shall he spring up, and shall build a temple to the Lord.”

This interpretation is interesting, because it agrees to the message of Ezekiel Chapters 43-47, “and behold the glory of the God of Israel came from the East” (Ezek 43:1).

In 30 AD, the Jewish theologian Philo identified “the East” as “the firstborn.”

“. . .’Behold, a man whose name is the East!’ … you will then agree that the name of the East has been given to him with great felicity. For the Father of the universe has caused him to spring up as the eldest son, whom, in another passage, he calls the firstborn; and he who is thus born, imitating the ways of his Father. . .” (On the Confusion of Tongues, XIV, 62-63).

He will build the temple of the LORD – the Spirit of Christ, who makes the body of Christ
13 He will build the LORD’s temple. He will bear the glory, and will sit and rule on his throne. He will be a priest on his throne. The counsel of peace will be between them both. 14 The crowns shall be to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the LORD’s temple. 15 Those who are far off shall come and build in the temple of Yihvah; and you shall know that Yihvah of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey the voice of Yihvah your God.”‘”
Zech 6:15
those who are afar off will come and build the temple of the LORD – the same expression “a far off” occurs in Acts 2:39, the promise of the holy spirit to those who are afar off. This is a prophecy of the restoration of the Sanctified Church in the end days. The phrase “then you will know the LORD of Hosts has sent Me,” also appears in Zech 2:11, where he prophesied the restoration of the Sanctified Church.

This takes us to “the East,” as mentioned above, and Isa 49:12, “surely these shall come from afar, Look! those from the north and the west (of the Apostolic time), and these from the land of Sinim (the East).”

this shall come to pass if you diligently obey the Lord your God – the restoration of the temple of the LORD has this condition, to keep the commandments of God, and Christ.
