Hos 3:2

2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and a homer and a half of barley.

fifteen shekels of silver – half the price of a slave, see Exod 21:32. This shows her low value. The custom was always to add some grain to the agreed price. The Targum translates this as: “And I redeemed them by my Memra (My Word) on the fifteenth day of the month of Nisan.” This is the Passover, the Day Christ died, see explanation at Dan 9:27.
